Radiohead: One Of The Most Famous Alternative Bands

Radiohead is a very famous alternative rock band (English) which is from Oxford shire. The members are Thom Yorke who is on the lead vocals, the piano, the rhythm guitar and beats, Jonny Greenwood on the lead guitar, the keyboards and other instruments too, Ed O’Brien on the guitar and the back up vocals, Colin Greenwood on the bass guitar and the keyboards and finally Phil Selway on the drums and the percussion.

Their first single was called “Creep” and it was released in the early 1992. Although initially when it was released it did not attain much success but after a few months it became a hit after this band released their debut album which was called Pablo Honey. After they released their second studio album which was called the Bends in 1995 their popularity started rising by an alarming rate in the UK.

Now they went international when they released album number three which was called OK Computer in 1997. This album was literally like a landmark for this band. The next albums which were called Kid A which was released in 2000 and Amnesiac which came out in 2001 made a mark for an evolution in the musical journey of this band.

They started experimenting their style to a certain extent in these albums. They used influences from electronic music, post punk, jazz and even Krautrock. Now critics had divided opinions on these two albums, on the experimentation.

But the band still held strong and they were still quite popular. Then they released the final album which was called Hail to thief, this was the last major album which was released by the band. This came out in 2003 and has mixes of rock, driven by guitars, lyrics which got an inspiration from headlines and electronics.

Now this band was basically formed when the boys were in school. There Thom and Colin were in the same year, Ed and Phil were one year higher and Jonny was two years below his brother.

Now the band they had first formed was named on Friday. After the band had gotten a deal with EMI records, the record label had asked them to change their name and hence Radiohead was formed as we know it now. Now over the years the band has managed to win three Grammys, an MTV music video award, 3 Q awards and a Plug award.

Woodstock 40th Year Anniversary: Cancelled?

Rumors about the upcoming 40th year anniversary of Woodstock are proliferating in the Internet. The tentative schedule of this event is on October 25th 2009. However, there is news that reveals that this event might be cancelled due to financial issues. With the economic problems that are facing the world especially the United States of America, sponsors have not been giving their support with the upcoming Woodstock 2009.
Sponsors are needed in the events because there are many things that should be paid like the venue and sound equipments that are needed to push through with the event. If there would not be any sponsors, how can the Woodstock management pay the venue? If there is no venue, how can the event be made possible? These are but some of the problems surrounding the 40th year anniversary of Woodstock.

Since the Woodstock concert is free, many people will surely flock the event. The tradition of Woodstock is to give free concerts. However, with the economic problems that it is facing, will it still be possible that the concert will be given for free indeed? Fans then should need to choose: a free concert that has no assurance that will push through or a paid concert that is sure to rock and roll on the months to come. There some things that should be considered by the Woodstock administrators such as to have the fans pay the tickets then get more sponsors, construct booths for foods, drinks and souvenirs. In these ways, the Woodstock 2009 40th year anniversary will surely be made possible. Even a minimal pay will help Woodstock go a long way for the fulfillment of its 40th year anniversary. For now, we could only hope to see other there at the Woodstock 2009 concert.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ – Experience the Eternal Sensation

In 1982, when somewhere in a studio, a guy in his twenties sung – “It’s close to midnight and something evil is lurking in the dark” -- he had no ideas that he was lighting the tunnel. Thriller was born out of the rasping voice of Michael Jackson. MJ had an odd cute guy charisma that had endeared him to people even in Ben (1973).
His ‘Thriller’ with nine tracks was big! So big that it still remains the highest selling album with an apocryphal 110 million copies sold. ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Beat It’ still come instantly on people’s tongues; those people who drunk the magic of Michael in his and their youth. He gave birth to an entire generation lip-syncing on a fake mike and gyrating with crotch in hand. ‘Thriller’ oozes such a bundle of

energy that it transcends borders. It needs no introduction that apart from being a super-singer, MJ was also a performer – non-compare. His moonwalks have been copied countless times in movies everywhere and his toe-stand seems computer gimmick to many. Thriller has a great collection of these dance moves through which MJ’s voice rises and sinks in cadence.

Just to give an additional touch, Michael wrote four of his nine songs, showing certain lyrical touch. Shot with an average budget, the songs have the characteristic blackish hue, with diamond-flashes that was the signature tune of MJ. In true fashion, ‘Thriller’ and not ‘Ben’ showed the world what it awaited, though unfortunately, Michael couldn’t produce the same intense magic again.

Some puritans will ever argue on the actual brilliance of MJ as a singer. His power-packed dancing and energized performances however will inarguably leave its imprints on the generations. Michael Jackson is no more, but his ‘Thriller’, the crowning glory of his charts remains with us to savor.

Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles – July 15

Live at the Sugarland, Pepsi Center, Denver, CO, two of the hottest singing couples stand together for this amazing concert, which I have never experienced before, and the ones I’ve been talking about are Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles. They were being compared of who’s gonna be the hottest singing couple of the season with the likes of Johnny and June, and Sonny and Cher. We’ll for me, the hottest are Kristian and Jennifer.

Their songs were very awesome, as me and the fans are getting thrilled on every song they sang. They are considered as one of the country’s powerhouse country-pop duo, which they have their own album tour until October in different states of America. Earlier days before the concert, I already bought a ticket for myself so that when tickets are sold out, I have no problem at all. Their songs which they sang to us includes the top five hits of their own which are “Want To”, “Settlin”, “Stay”, All I Want To Do”, and “It Happens”. Those five songs are pumping me up, especially the fans are going crazy and excited as well, as they included them as part of their 2008 album, which known as “Love On The Inside”. The bands included Kristian’s brother Brandon (keyboards), and Annie Clements (bass). This concert is one of the amazing moments I would never forget, and they totally rock! Way to go Kristian and Jennifer! You’re a good couple!
