Handlebars – FloBots Live Denver Free DNC Protest Concert
ivaw.org http www.votetruth08.com On Wednesday, the Flobots opened up for Rage Against the Machine. This was a free concert sponsored by Iraq Veterans Against War and the Alliance for Real Democracy at the Denver Coliseum. All footage was shot during the concert, the march, and the stand-off. After the concert, 10000 protesters led by the Iraq Veterans marched to the Pepsi Center where the veterans had a stand-off with the police. The IVAW had previously demanded that someone from the Obama campaign meet with them and go over their three points of unity which are 1.) Immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces from Iraq. 2.) Full benefits for veterans upon their return. 3.) Reparations for the Iraqi people. After the sometimes tense stand-off, the IVAW earned a victory when a representative of Obama’s heard and acknowledged these three points. A small victory for the people in an epic battle of the oppressed fighting the oppressors. Power to the people!

John Denver Mardy Murie Film Benefit Concert
Charlie Craighead, film producer, held a benefit concert on August 6, 1997 at Jackson Lake Lodge, Jackson Lake, WY, to raise funds for a film he was doing about Mardy Murie, sometimes called the “grandmother of the conservation movement,” because of her writings and work in saving our natural resources. John Denver came to play and sing a ballad he had written about Mardy and her husband, Olaus, “A Song for All Lovers,” but Mardy wasn’t there because it was her potluck bridge night. Mardy was the recipient of the Medal of Freedom, this country’s highest honor for civilians and many other awards from the Sierra Club and other environmental groups.
