John Denver Symphony concerts are back

The sound of a symphony orchestra playing the original arrangements, that were written by Lee Holdridge, of John Denver music, with John Denver Band members Richie Gajate Garcia and Pete Huttlinger, and talented musicians Anne Curry, Diane Ireland, Chris Wills, and Tristan Garcia, with renowned singer Jim Curry, makes for an amazing performance you must see and hear. Bring back the sounds of John Denver into your heart like you remember. This is a slide show from the first performance back in April or 2009. Pictures were taken by Lance Atchison.

    i aint a West-Virginian, but still love this song !! Country Roads: #FTW !!

  • vaibanez17:

It’s weird that he wrote a song that he was actually talking about the western part of the state of regular Virginia but it somehow got to be adapted to West Virginia. Maybe when he wrote it it never even crossed his mind that people in the state of West Virginia would think he was talking about them. Had he written it for WV, he wouldve had to say “Allegheny mountains…Kanawha River.” It’s funny how things work out, and Denver embraced WV even if it was a confusion of lyrics.

@xYANKxINxOZx Country roads, take you home

  • RenegadeXavier:

@lilz62295 Shenandoah runs into the Potomac, and the Potomac is in WVa. The Potomac is the lowest point in WVa, also called Harper’s Ferry. Part of the Appalachian Mountain system, the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountain Ranges run in a broad strip from northeast West Virginia southwest across the eastern 1/6 of the state. These mountains are characterized by long parallel ridges. Streams run through the valleys that separate these ridges.

  • RenegadeXavier:

@CntryInVa Also, he directly says West Virginia, and Mountain Momma (WV is the Mountain State). VA is well known, and WVa is well known for being…well..horrible, even though it’s not.

  • gabriel12carlos:

    i love country

  • BDN222:

    singing with emotions exploding

  • CntryInVa:

What a fun (and frustrating) age old battle–was John singing about West Va or Va (He never would say–hence the battle). My dad was born in WVa and I in Va so I enjoy thinking he is singing about both. The Shenandoah river and Valley are both completely in Va..but Va is no “stranger to blue water” and “miner’s lady” speaks more directly to WVA than Va -although we have plenty mine history too (first viable coal mine in the country (Chesterfield Va). I enjoy that the rest of the world knows VA.
